Mallorca is brimming with stunning beaches, but if you only have a week to explore, you’ll want to make the most of your time. That’s where I come in! I’m here to help you decide which beaches are truly worth a visit and which you can skip without regret. Where the cliffs
cradle the shore
Right in the middle between 2 massive cliffs
Cala Pi
In just a 40-minute drive from Palma de Mallorca, you’ll leave the city behind and arrive at one of Mallorca’s pristine natural beaches. Located on the southern part of the island, this white-sand beach beautifully captures the essence of nature. Parking is convenient, with spaces available in nearby streets or squares. And from there, it’s only a 5-minute walk to the beach entrance.

The best view is at the top
When walking from the town center to the beach, you’ll come across an easy-going staircase that leads you down the cliff. The stairs give you two options: go left or go right. Before heading down to the right, take a moment to walk a few meters in the other direction. That’s where you’ll find the best viewpoint. Nestled between the trees, you can spot the old fishermen’s houses, resting at the foot of the wild sea. The true stars of this beach.
The beach between cliffs
Have you taken enough photos? Great! Then we can head into the other direction, further down the stairs. Arriving early, at around 11 AM, we found that even though there were plenty of people, the beach felt spacious, perfect for spreading out with a toddler. One of the main advantages of Cala pi, is the abundance of shade provided by the towering cliffs. Just before midday when the crowds were still thin, we found the perfect spot for us.
Even though the beach doesn’t offer a bar or restaurant, it’s one of the safest beaches I spotted. As we arrived just in time to see the lifeguards setting up of the day.
The sea forgot his sparkle today
As I mentioned before, Cala Pi is a lovely spot: quiet, with lifeguards on duty and plenty of shade. Despite these positives, it didn’t end up being my favorite beach. Approaching the water for a refreshing dip, something immediately caught our attention and dampened our expectations. The sea wasn’t the sparkling blue you’d expect from postcards. Instead, it was a mix of trash, seaweed, and murky water, not ideal for swimming, especially with a little one who loves to splash in clear waters. Sadly, our hopes for a refreshing swim were dashed.
The question remains: was it just bad timing, with the sea depositing debris onto the beach, or is this a common occurrence at Cala Pi? If you’re looking for a good place to rest or picnic under the cliffs, Cala Pi could be your spot. However, if clear blue waters and easy swimming are your priority, you might want to skip this one.
Shade, space, and safety, but not for everyone
Cala Pi
From its cliffs offering a lot of shade, to the natural beauty of this area, Cala Pi has a lot to offer. The beach is just perfect to survive the midday heat, with easy accessibility and lifeguards adding a layer of safety. While the location is scenic and perfect for relaxing onshore, the murky waters and lack of facilities left me wanting more. That’s why I’ll only give this beach a 5 out of 10.
